Islanders at Red Wings | OddsShark Matchup Report

The month of November ended the same way that it began for the Detroit Red Wings; with a handful of blowout losses. The Red Wings enjoyed a five-game point streak of 3-0-2 in the middle of the month, but since then Detroit has lost each of its last seven games in regulation. Each of the last five of those losses has been by at least two goals as the Red Wings have been outscored 24 to 4 over that stretch. The schedule doesn’t get any more forgiving on this homestand with the Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins coming to town.
The Red Wings have the league’s worst record of 7-19-3 and are just 4-10 on the moneyline at home per the OddsShark NHL Database.
The Islanders surged into their three-game road trip through California on a five-game winning streak and a 15-0-1 point streak. But the West Coast was not good to New York as the team lost 2-1 to the San Jose Sharks, 3-0 to the Anaheim Ducks and 4-1 to the Los Angeles Kings. New York snapped out of its losing streak with a 2-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, but after scoring only four total goals in their last four games, the Islanders will be looking to spark their offense back up against the worst defensive team in the NHL on Monday.
Monday’s total is set at 5.5 goals at online betting sites. The UNDER is 6-0 in Detroit’s last six home games against the New York Islanders.
If New York’s offensive struggles continue into this matchup, the Red Wings could have a shot at a rare upset win. But with only four goals in its last five games, Detroit has its own offensive issues to work out if it hopes to snap this daunting losing streak.
