HELM OUT 6 WEEKS WITH SEPARATED SHOULDER

The Wings announced today that forward Darren Helm will be missing at least the next six weeks with a separated shoulder.

Helm is fresh off his new multi-year deal paying him $3.85M into 2021. He’s got 7 points in 17 games this season and has gone cold since another injury took out linemate Thomas Vanek. 

Vanek is slated to return as early as this weekend while Athanasiou is still likely another week away. Tomas Jurco is also close to returning from his back injury and while Mantha is still with the team it will be interesting to see what approach they take following the return of both Vanek and AA. 

The team hasn’t looked good as of late and this flurry of injuries certainly hasn’t helped anything.
