Oh captain, my captain! Dennis Cholowski better get used to hearing that, because he has been named the 23rd captain of the Prince George Cougars of the WHL.
Cholowski, the Wings first round selection in 2016, is enjoying a nice rookie campaign in the WHL, recording 17 points in 20 games. He will now be taking on a leadership role, which is quite impressive considering he has only played 20 games for the club.
“Your leadership group is one of the foundation pieces in having a successful team, on and off the ice. These three young men embody the leadership qualities you want in Captains and I feel we are in great hands going forward,” said Cougars General Manger Todd Harkins.
Cholowski is certainly a bright spot in the Wings future, and his newly recognized leadership qualities only enhance his development, as we’ve seen him play with a lot more confidence in his game this year. After a rough season last year in the NCAA, Cholowski has done a complete 180 with his play and his development.
