The Detroit Red Wings have placed veteran forward David Booth on waivers. The local Michigan product was a nice comeback story as he cracked the Wings’ roster out of camp despite not having played an NHL game since 2014-15.
After four games, it seems that comeback story has come to an end.
It seems like that Booth will clear waivers considering the fact nobody was interested in him during the off-season. If he does clear, since his salary is just $700k, he won’t count against the cap as a buried cap hit in the minors.
At this point, the Wings haven’t announced a corresponding roster move, but waiving Booth puts them at 12 forwards, eight defencemen, and two goalies, one player shy of the 23-man roster maximum.
