Canadiens at Red Wings | OddsShark Matchup Report
After ending the month of January with an 0-7 straight up and a 1-6 against the spread slump, the Red Wings kicked off February with some much more competitive play. Detroit went 2-4 through its first six games in February and 4-2 ATS over that stretch with one-goal losses to the New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres. But over their last three games, the Red Wings have been outscored 13 to 3 across three blowout losses on the road. The team will try to turn things around at home where they are 9-18-2 this season.
In their last six home games against the Canadiens, the Red Wings are 1-5 SU per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Montreal enjoyed a nice surge over the last month with a 9-3 record over 12 games from January 11 through February 8, but that run has given way to a four-game losing streak over the team’s last four games. Ilya Kovalchuk has gone scoreless in the team’s last four games after compiling six goals and six assists through his first 15 games in a Habs uniform. The Canadiens enter Tuesday night’s game with a better record on the road at 14-11-3 than they have at home (13-5-5).
Tuesday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at online betting sites. The UNDER is 5-1 in Montreal’s last six games on the road.
Three of Detroit’s 14 wins this season have come at the expense of the Canadiens. The Red Wings could complete an improbable season sweep over Montreal with a win in this one. In a lost season that will likely get even worse when some talent is sold off at the trade deadline, this would serve as a rare bright spot in the 2019-20 season.
