According to the Red Wings, the team could be getting a few much needed reinforcements as early as tomorrow.
For the Red Wings, there is some good news on the injury front that includes two very important pieces. Both Justin Abdelkader and Mike Green were on the ice with their teammates during Monday’s practice at the Taylor Sportsplex.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed that both players will be back for Tuesday’s game against the Blackhawks, Coach Blashill did say that both guys could be ready to go after being been re-evaluated by the team’s medical staff. Justin Abdelkader has missed 18 games with a knee injury and hasn’t played since December 1st with Detroit going 5-8-3 in his absense.
To this point, Mike Green has missed eight games with an upper-body injury that he sustained after being hit by Anaheim’s Ryan Kesler back on December 17th. Green will certainly be a welcomed addition to the backend as he remains tied for fifth in team scoring with 18 points despite missing nearly a month of action.
If cleared, both players will surely add an injection of firey offense into the roster, something that has been sorely lacking in their absense.
