Wings Post-Game: Win-Less In Winnipeg

With Mike Green back in the lineup, the Wings hit the road to play the Winnipeg Jets. They played a solid game, but just couldn’t come out with the win. They ended up losing the game by a score of 4-2.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

The Wings had a really bad start to the first period, getting scored on in the opening seconds of the game.
They also had a terrible finish to the first period, getting scored on in literally the last second of the period.
Luke Glendening scored a beautiful shorthanded goal in the second period to bring the Wings within two goals.

FINAL THOUGHT

It’s a rare occurrence, but the Wings actually out-shot the Jets 35-24. It’s really a shame when they can’t win a game like that. It would be easy to blame the whole thing on Bernier’s .886 save percentage, but the truth is that he didn’t get the defensive support he needed. The first goal was all on Ericsson. The second goal was deflected in by Thomas Vanek (who passed on some real good offensive opportunities instead of shooting). The third goal went in off the stick of Mike Green. All around, there was bad luck.

It was a tough game to get bad luck in, but that’s hockey. The Wings are back it tomorrow in Minnesota to try and get back into that ‘W’ column.
