Tomas Tatar and the Detroit Red Wings didn’t have to wait long for a deal to come together.
It was reported by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet that Tatar and the Red Wings have come to an agreement on a four-year deal worth 5.3 million AAV. The deal comes more towards Tatar’s side of the negotiation than was previously stated.
In 82 games this past season, he scored 25 goals and helped with 21 assists for a total of 46 points. In a dreadful season, Tatar also posted one of the shot differential marks on the team as well.
At the 5.3 million number, his contract is right in line with Mike Hoffman, Alex Galchenyuk and Ondrej Palat. Not a bad group to be in.
This puts them just 3 million over the cap as they still need to get Andreas Athanasiou signed. Johan Franzen will go on LTIR but even then that gives them less than $800,000 available to sign the speedy winger.
