As the Detroit Red Wings work to sign Tomas Tatar, they have right wing Martin Frk signed to an extension.
Frk signed a one-year deal with a two-way stipulation for $650,000 while in the NHL and $250,000 when he is in the AHL.
Frk played with the Carolina Hurricanes after being picked off of waivers after last training camp. He was then put on waivers again and was picked up by the Red Wings and immediately sent down to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Frk scored 27 goals and helped with 23 assists while with the Griffins. He was an offensive force during the season. In the playoffs, he put up 15 points in 16 games and scored the Calder Cup clinching goal.
He is one of a few players that are going to be competing for a role on the Red Wings next season as they try to improve on their abysmal 2016-17 campaign.
