On a night that’ll most likely be remembered for an American election over a midweek hockey game, something magical happened in Philadelphia. The Detroit Red Wings won a hockey game, for their first time in 19 years.
Even though it was in a shootout, it’s hard to forget something so historic.

Detroit didn’t start this game particularly hot, giving up 7 shot attempts and a goal in the game’s first six and a half minutes to (who else?) Claude Giroux. 

Thankfully, Tomas Tatar came through moments later to tie it up on Detroit’s second shot of the game.

 

There wasn’t a whole lot much to report on through the second save for this fight.

Sean Couturier put Philly ahead just under six minutes into the third. 

Before the man of the night rallied back with lucky time: 11:11 into the third.

 

Nothing doing in the rest of the third, and overtime…. so we went to a shootout.
