The Wings started this game off quickly enough, taking a 2-0 lead off the stick of one Frans Nielsen on both goals.

Being the Red Wings and all, they couldn’t hold onto that lead as Vancouver found a way to tie it up. But when things were all said and done, the Wings came out with an impressive enough 3-2 OT win.

After Alex Edler was penalized for a slashing infraction, the Danish winger Nielsen struck again on the power play to double the Wings’ lead.

A fluky chip in followed by a well-forechecked play pushed the Canucks to tie it up 2-2… and that was all she wrote for regulation.

The oft-criticized Justin Abdelkader combatted the haters tonight to finish things off.
