Jimmy Howard placed on LTIR, Helm may return tomorrow

Jan 19, 2017, 14:45 ESTUpdated:
After being out for nearly a month, Jimmy Howard was today placed on LTIR.
Earlier today, Howard found himself on the ice:
It’s unclear if he suffered a setback or just a “that doesn’t feel right”, but he’s still clearly at least a few weeks away from being good to go.
It’s a shame, considering he was playing a Vezina-worthy performance this season.
For the Wings, the one positive that may come out of the injury is that it’ll allow themselves time to evaluate the tandem of Petr Mrazek and Jared Coreau, who have both looked out of sorts with an .894 and .901 save percentages, respectively.
Additionally, the Wings announced Darren Helm may be back in the action tomorrow night, with Steve Ott potentially heading to IR.
