Fresh off of a two goal and three point performance this afternoon with the Griffins in Chicago, the Red Wings called up Tyler Bertuzzi and will be joining the team in Boston to face the Bruins on Saturday.
Let’s hope that Blashill will allow him more than nine minutes of ice-time, like he had in his brief season debut against the Blues.
It will be interesting to see what line he will be placed on. Most likely the fourth-line to replace Glendening after he suffered an upper-body injury against the Flyers on Wednesday night in the first period. Maybe we’ll get the Blashill Blender™ and Bertuzzi will end up in the top-6, playing a checking role on Larkin’s wing. A fan can dream.
From the beginning of the season Bertuzzi was pencilled in to make this team, but with injuries setting him back he was demoted to the Griffins and started his season with a solid seven goals and fourteen points in sixteen games for the reigning Calder Cup Champions.
Let’s join hands and hope that Bertuzzi won’t ever be wearing that Griffin on his chest again.
