The offseason is in full force with the draft, first few stages of free agency, and prospect development camp over and done with. Now that some of the major front office changes have taken place, the Red Wings have begun some of their house keeping business.

Sunday afternoon the team inked first round pick Moritz Seider to a three-year entry-level contract. I’d just like to thank Steve Yzerman for waiting until after the conclusion of the Wimbledon Men’s Singles. What a guy.

So what does this mean? Well, not much.

Entry level contracts are standard for most first rounders that are not college-bound right after the draft. It doesn’t have much influence on where Seider will play next season. The NHL is a long-shot (although not completely out of the realm of realistic) but the AHL or DEL is a strong possibility. Expectations are high for the 6th overall pick, who is currently training in Mannheim. He was a bold selection on draft day, but one the fan base has embraced.

Seider impressed many at development camp and gave us a glimpse at what the future may hold. He showcased offensive creativity that some felt eluded him on draft day. He was very much a dominant defensive presence as well.
