The 28-year-old centerman Wade Megan was placed on waivers today, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
The Red Wings signed Megan this offseason as a free agent, mostly to keep the depth that the Grand Rapids Griffins lost.
Megan played in two preseason games for the Wings, netting one assist in just over twenty-two minutes played. He had zero shots on goal.
Last year, Megan played mostly for the Chicago Wolves in the AHL – scoring 11 goals and 33 points in 63 games played. He also played one single game for the St. Louis Blues last season.
Drafted 138th overall by the Florida Panthers in 2009, Megan is only on his third organization as of this offseason. Playing three full years in the Panthers’ organization and then the last two years in the Blues’.
Megan will surely be a good depth centerman for the Griffins this year, a position that they are sorely lacking in with the departure of 2017-18 leading scorer Ben Street.
