On the first non-game day since Monday, the Red Wings have made a total of twelve cuts to their roster. Sending some down to the Grand Rapids Griffins or the Toledo Walleye.
Forwards Axel Holmstrom and Chris Terry were assigned to the Griffins, while goaltender Kaden Fulcher was assigned to the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.
From detroitredwings.com, here is a simplified list of who was released or cut.
PLAYERS ASSIGNED/RELEASED ON 9/27/18
- LW Chris Terry
- RW Colin Campbell +
- G Kaden Fulcher
- C Axel Holmstrom
- RW Dominik Shine +
- C Turner Elson +
- D Trevor Hamilton +
- D Marcus Crawford +
- RW Matthew Ford +
- C Trevor Yates +
- D Mackenze Stewart *
- Carter Camper +
+ = signed by Grand Rapids
* = camp invitee

Besides Fulcher, every other player on this list will report to the Griffins camp.
All of these cuts were expected, so nothing too crazy here. Holmstrom looks for a big bounce-back year offensively, and defencemen Hamilton and Crawford are young undrafted free agents the Griffins were able to pick up.
The undefeated preseason Red Wings continue on their tear against the Toronto Maple Leafs in a home-and-home starting tomorrow at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
