For captaining his Tri-City Americans to an undefeated streak so far in the WHL Playoffs, Wings prospect Michael Rasmussen has been named WHL Player of the Week.
The 9th-overall selection from the 2017 NHL Draft, Rasmussen has been on a tear lately and it doesn’t appear he’s anywhere close to stopping.
For the week he was awarded, he had four goals and seven points in just two games against the Victoria Royals – including a hat-trick during last Saturday’s 4-1 win.
The Surrey, BC native, has a total of 19 points in just 6 games so far these playoffs. Currently, he ranks second in WHL Playoffs scoring, second in goals and tied for fourth in assists- he also ranks second in power-play goals.
This season has been a rough one for Rasmussen as a whole. Suffering through injury earlier in the season, he was not able to reach his full production until later on. Still finishing with a career-high 59 points and 31 goals in 47 games, demonstrates his ability to put the puck in the net at this level.
Whether his playoff performance, or his regular season performance is closer to showing the skill Rasmussen has, this 6’6″ centerman is definitely making a case to be cemented into the Wings’ lineup for the 2018-19 season.
