Wednesday afternoon the Red Wings placed goaltender Eric Comrie on waivers, for purpose of assigning him to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Unfortunately, it looks like Comrie’s time with the organization is over. Thursday afternoon, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported the Winnipeg Jets have claimed the netminder off waivers.
The Jets originally waived Comrie at the beginning of the season but lost him to waivers as well. Now, they’ve decided to pounce on the opportunity to bring him back. They’ll have to play him on the NHL roster for the time being, however, should they decide to waive him again, Detroit will still rank very high in the order of claim on the waiver wire.
