Detroit Red Wings center @Dylan Larkin put his team over the top against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday, beating goaltender @Vitek Vanecek in overtime to seal a 3-2 Red Wings win.
With less than two minutes gone in overtime, Larkin received a pass from @Lucas Raymond at the left faceoff circle and took a couple of strides toward Washington’s net.
As Capitals defenseman (and former Red Wing) @Nick Jensen stood between him and Vanecek, Larkin fired a wrister that found its target behind the Washington goaltender.
@Moritz Seider picked up the secondary assist on Larkin’s overtime winner. Here’s the video of the goal, as posted to Twitter by Bally Sports Detroit:

Larkin’s goal was his third of the season. The Red Wings captain now has points in five of his six games to start 2021–22.
Seider now leads the Red Wings with six assists in seven games. With the primary helper on Larkin’s goal, Raymond now has four goals and eight points in his first seven NHL contests. Raymond and Seider now rank first and second, respectively, in the NHL’s rookie scoring race.
Detroit improved to 4-2-1 with the victory. They’ll return to action on Oct. 29, hosting the Florida Panthers for a 7:00 p.m. ET game at Little Caesars Arena.
