Welcome back to another edition of Throwback Thursday!

It was today in 1971 that the legendary Gordie Howe notched his 22nd consecutive 20 goal season, an NHL record.
The goal came in a 5-3 win for the Red Wings over the visiting Minnesota North Stars.
It marked the last year Howe was in the NHL before retiring for the first time, only to return to the WHA two years later to play with the Houston Aeros.
Over the 22 seasons, however, Howe dominated the league and has gone down as one of the best players to ever play in the NHL. In those 22 seasons alone, Howe scored 751 goals and 1706 points in 1529 games. When you account for his first three seasons in the league, too, he totalled 1687 games played scoring 786 goals and 1809 points.
Howe still holds the NHL record for games played with 1767, however, Patrick Marleau and his 1737 games played are hot on his tail.
