Welcome back to another edition of Throwback Thursday!
This week in 2000 (Oct. 21), Nik Lindstrom scored his 500th career NHL point in a 5-4 win over the Sabres.
Not only that, but it was the Wings’ 5000th game in the league.
The 2000-01 season marked the halfway point for Lindstrom in his career as it was his 10th season in the league. Through his first 10 full seasons, he scored at a .73 PPG rate it was a number that stayed true for the last 10, too.
That 00-01 season was a big one for Lindstrom. Despite the club getting eliminated in the first round of hte playoffs, Lindstrom was named the winner of his first of seven Norris trophies.
In hindsight, its almost hard to believe he had won any sooner. In the three years prior, however, he did finish second in votes.
