Welcome back to a much-beloved series on the Nation Network: Throwback Thursday. We’ve resurrected this weekly piece from the grave in thanks to a fancy website that allows us to take a look at newspaper archives.
So without further ado…

Fighting through a groin injury, Howe scored his 17th and 18th tallies of the season — both in the third frame — to help the Wings win.
“Howe stole the puck from Bruin defenceman Leo Boivin, who had spilled Howe earlier, and scored at 12:10 of the final period. He clicked again at 14:00,” the Associated Press wrote about the game.
The win moved the Wings within four points of a slumping Maple Leafs and also a nice seven-point cushion over the Rangers in a divisional battle for the fourth, and final, playoff spot.
Howe would go on to score another eight goals by the end of the season in a year he total 26 goals and another 47 assists in 73 games for the 35-year-old.
