Hello everyone, my name is Jeremy Davis and I’ll be your Red Wings prospects reporter for the foreseeable future. I’ve been plying my trade for the last little while on Canucks Army, a fellow Nation Network site, and since my main interest and focus has been prospects, I volunteered myself to expand to another market. I’ll be keeping you updated on the weekly progress of your favorite youngins.

Enough about me. This week was all about lots of goals from CHL prospects, little to nothing from the AHL group, and a brawl from a non-traditional source. Let’s check out the week that was in the first edition of The Assembly Line: Wing Nation’s Weekly Prospect Report.

Evgeny Svechnikov had a slow-ish week (by his standards at least), but still collected a goal and three assists in three games played. He’s averaging a little over a point and a half per game this season, and leads all Wings prospects in points, despite missing a good chunk of the season.
Dominic Turgeon, the Wings’ second most productive prospect, had two goals in three games in the last week.
Everybody’s favorite undersized defenseman Joe Hicketts had an assist in each of the three games he played last week. Assists had been his bread and butter this season, as he leads all Wings prospects with 35. His three goals on the year still leave a bit to be desired however, especially after scoring 12 last season.
Adam Marsh remains sidelined with an injury. Before that he’d been having a successful season. 33 points in 37 games is a fine pace for an 18-year old taken in the seventh round.
Vili Saarijärvi had one of his best weeks of the season last week, scoring three times and adding two assists.

James de Haas had a goal and an assist last week in two games played, though both points came in Friday’s 2-1 overtime win against Cornell University.
David Pope did not dress for either of Nebraska-Omaha’s two games last week, and he has now missed four straight.
Mike McKee did not play last week, sitting out both games as his Western Michigan Broncos took on North Dakota.

USHL

Chase Pearson had no points in two games last week, but he did manage to rack up 16 penalty minutes in a single game. There appeared to be some sort of disagreement between his Youngstown Phantoms and their opponents, the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, as the two teams combined for 82 minutes in penalties at the 20 minute mark of the second period. Pearson got his licks in and was assessed a 4 minute double-minor for roughing and a game misconduct.
Pat Holway didn’t manage any points in the single game he played last week, nor was he involved in any brawls.

Axel Holmström had one goal in three games last week. Though his 21 points don’t look as impressive as some of the numbers being put up by those in the CHL and USHL, Holmström’s NHLe value (a translation factor that predicts NHL point totals based on historic numbers) trails only Evgeny Svechnikov among Red Wings prospects.
Julius Vahatalo was held off the scoresheet in each of the two games he played last week.
Alexander Kadeykin had no points in three games this past week. He’s on a bit of a cold streak of late, with no points in his last six games and no goals in his last nine.
Christoffer Ehn had no points in three last week, which isn’t overly surprising considering that the 19-year old has just two assist in 26 games so far this season in the SHL.

Anthony Mantha had one goal in two games this past week. While he’s been fairly consistent throughout the season, he’s scored just once in his last eight games – though to be fair he scored in three straight games before that.
Martin had no points in the Griffins two games last week, and is also a bit chilly of late, with no goals in his last eight games. After such a hot December and a nice start to January, Frk might be ready for the calendar to turn, to see if February will help him find his scoring touch again.
Robbie Russo had no points in the Griffins’ two games last week. On the bright side, he’s still the Griffins’ points leader among defensemen.
Andreas Athanasiou has a fabulous name, but unfortunately, he couldn’t turn that into any goals last week, as he also went pointless in two games.
Louis-Marc Aubry had two of the Griffins three goals on Saturday as they were trounced 7-3 by Milwaukee.
Tyler Bertuzzi had no points last week and has just one goal in his last 19 games. The rookie looked dominant in last year’s Calder Cup playoffs, scoring seven goals in 13 games, but he hasn’t been able to come close to replicating that success this season.
Just to save some time, Xavier Ouellet, Mitch Callahan, Ryan Sproul, and Tomas Nosek all played twice last week and have no points to show for it. Colin Campbell, on the other hand, had one assist across that span.
