The Detroit Red Wings have retroactively placed forwards @Carter Rowney and @Riley Barber on injured reserve.
Rowney was placed on IR retroactive to Jan. 4, meaning he can be activated at any time. Barber, retroactively added on Jan. 11, will have to wait until at least a week from that date (Jan. 18) to be activated.
In a corresponding move, the Red Wings recalled forward @Kyle Criscuolo from the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins on Thursday.

Criscuolo, 29, has 10 goals and 22 points in 21 games with the Griffins this season. He also has an assist in two NHL contests with the Red Wings this year.
Rowney, 32, has been a regular presence in the Red Wings’ lineup in 2021–22. He has two goals and four points in 22 games with Detroit this season. Barber, 27, has played in two NHL games with Detroit this season and has yet to record a point.
The Red Wings are in action this evening, playing host to the Winnipeg Jets at Little Caesars Arena. Winnipeg currently leads 1–0 in the first period.
