Red Wings vs Blue Jackets | OddsShark Matchup Report
Thomas Greiss’ disastrous season with the Red Wings continued on Sunday night as the backup goaltender was torched for seven goals on 32 shots in a 7-2 loss on the road to the Chicago Blackhawks. Greiss fell to 1-11-3 with a 3.46 goals-against average and an .882 save percentage. Things have been much different for the Red Wings this season when Jonathan Bernier has been in net; the 32-year-old is 6-3-0 with a 2.63 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage. Detroit is 3-1 in Bernier’s last four starts and has allowed only two goals per game in those four games.
The Red Wings wrap up their current four-game road trip with this game against Columbus on Tuesday and then a road game against Carolina on Thursday. The Red Wings are 3-8-1 on the road this season.
Columbus only managed to get one goal past Juuse Saros on Sunday as the Blue Jackets lost 3-1 to the Nashville Predators. With that loss, the Blue Jackets are 0-4-1 over their last five games and just 8-10-5 on the season. The offense has hit a wall during this slump with only two goals scored over the team’s last three games.
Tuesday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at sports betting sites. The UNDER is 4-2 in Columbus’ last six games.
The young Red Wings are playing with confidence in front of Jonathan Bernier and appear to be heading in the right direction. They won their last game against the Blue Jackets 3-2 when these two teams met in Detroit in January; a road win over Columbus could serve as another nice confidence booster moving forward.
