Nearing the end of their current five-day break, the Detroit Red Wings could potentially be without their captain @Dylan Larkin when they return to action Wednesday at home against the Colorado Avalanche.

Towards the end of Tuesday’s practice, Larkin left the ice and didn’t return due to an undisclosed injury. In speaking to the media afterwards, coach Jeff Blashill couldn’t provide much of an update other than revealing the 6’1″ forward will undergo further testing.

At this point, it’s unclear if the left-handed center will be available for Wednesday’s contest. For now, any additional information will likely be provided following the club’s morning skate at Little Caesars Arena.

Larkin, 25, is enjoying a remarkable performance thus far, posting 26 goals and 52 points through 46 games. In addition, the Michigan native has also registered 140 shots on goal, 32 hits, 20 takeaways, 17 blocks and a 53.0 percent face-off percentage while averaging 19:13 minutes of ice-time per night.

The Red Wings’ captain is currently signed to a five-year, $30.5 million contract, which runs through 2022-23.

Detroit will return from its hiatus Wednesday while hosting Colorado, beginning at 7:30 pm ET.
