After originally being scheduled to do so on January 6, the Anaheim Ducks will finally play host to the Detroit Red Wings at Honda Center on Sunday evening.
Both the Red Wings and Ducks are coming off lopsided defeats in their most recent games. Anaheim fell 4–1 to the New York Rangers on Saturday in a game where the Big Apple visitors controlled the shots by a 40–14 margin.
On the same evening, the Los Angeles Kings shut out the Red Wings by a 4–0 score. L.A. outshot Detroit 27–2 (!!) in the first period, with Kings goaltender @Cal Petersen ultimately making 21 saves for the shutout.
Sunday’s game in Anaheim will be the second of Detroit’s three-game California road swing, although it was initially intended to open the trip.
Hours before puck-drop between Detroit and Anaheim on Jan. 6, the National Hockey League postponed the game to today as a result of COVID-19 issues affecting the Ducks.

Players to watch
Detroit: While the Red Wings only managed 21 shots in L.A. on Saturday, four of those came off the stick of @Pius Suter. The Swiss forward has been excellent of late and was also the only Red Wings forward to avoid posting a negative plus-minus rating in the game. Suter, who plays a role on both special teams, has four goals and 11 points in his last 15 games.
Anaheim: 22-year-old forward @Isac Lundestrom has been rewarded for his strong start to the season with a spot on the Ducks’ top line, at least for the moment. The Swedish pivot has eight goals and 18 points in 37 games this year and scored the Ducks’ only goal in their 4–1 loss to the Rangers on Saturday:
