After his role in last night’s melee with the Flames, Luke Witkowski has been suspended for 10 games. As Witkowski was booted from the game and was heading for the dressing room, Matthew Tkachuk gave him a slash and he returned to the ice, which is ultimately the cause of the 10-game suspension.

After what was described as lengthy internal league debate sounds like @NHL will suspend @DetroitRedWings Luke Witkowski 10 games for coming back on the ice. @NHLFlames Matthew Tkachuk will also face a discipline hearing with @NHL tomorrow for his involvement

As stated on Sportsnet, if a player is ordered to leave the game and they do so and come back on the ice, that player is automatically to be suspended for 10 games. That’s exactly what went down, so, predictably, the Wings will be without Witkowski for 10 games.
