The Grand Rapids Griffins are doing their part to help federal workers.
The Griffins are offering free tickets this week to those who are on furlough or working without pay due to the partial government shutdown.
Workers who present valid U.S. government ID from an impacted agency can receive up to six free upper-level tickets to the game on Wednesday against the Manitoba Moose or Friday against the San Jose Barracuda. Both games begin at 7 p.m. Fans can only redeem the tickets in person at The Zone, open weekdays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. inside Van Andel Arena, or the Griffins box office, which opens an hour and half prior to each game.
The Griffins are 23-13-3-4, tied with the Iowa Wild for first place in the Central Division.
