Filip Larsson isn’t slowing down from his dominant season in the USHL last year. He is off to a roaring start with the Denver Pioneers after returning from injury sustained in the off-season. The Swedish net-minder only played two games in the month of December but it was good enough for him to be named NCHC goaltender of the month.
Larsson’s first game came against conference rival North Dakota where he stopped 32 of 33 shots in a 2-1 overtime win. If not for a late third period goal by the Fighting Hawks Larsson would have had the shutout. This would be his first career collegiate win.

The second contest came against UMass Lowell where Larsson made 20 of 21 saves. Giving him a .963 save percentage and 0.96 GAA for the month of December.
The season as a whole he is 2-0-1 with .940 save percentage and 1.90 GAA. While the sample size is small, the consistency over the last two years is promising. The Wings could have that top goalie prospect they’ve been looking for on their hands.
