If you still haven’t had a chance to watch “The Russian Five” documentary, you’ll have an opportunity for a free screening next week.
Campus Martius in downtown Detroit will be showing the documentary at 8 p.m. Aug 22, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The documentary showcases the Detroit Red Wings’ line, dubbed “The Russian Five,” (Sergei Fedorov, Vyacheslav Kozlov, Igor Larionov, Viacheslav Fetisov and Vladimir Konstantinov) and how they helped transform the Detroit Red Wings leading to Stanley Cups in 1997, 1998 and 2002. It was the first five-man Russian unit in NHL history.
Former Red Wing Darren McCarty, who was a member of the Stanley Cup-winning teams that featured the Russian stars, will introduce the documentary.
The showing will feature the public debut of the film’s poster, which will be available for purchase ($20), along with DVDs ($20) and other merchandise.
Attendees are allowed to bring chairs or blankets for use on the park’s lawn. They can also bring their own snacks and nonalcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages will be sold at the site.
