Detroit Red Wings to get extended training camp

The Detroit Red Wings are one of seven teams who will be getting an extended training camp ahead of next season.
According to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, the Red Wings, along with the Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres, LA Kings, New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators and San Jose Sharks could see as little as two extra weeks of camp.
These seven teams were all excluded from the NHL’s 24-team return to play format and according to LeBrun, GM’s put a request in August for the extended camp.
While the return to play format saw the Tampa Bay Lightning hoist the Stanley Cup, the Red Wings have had a solid offseason. They’ve made a number of additions to their roster that will not only help bring along some of the young Red Wings players, but also to make the club more competitive.
An extra few weeks of training camp could be great for the club as they look to prepare for the next season.
