The Detroit Red Wings announced a slew of moves Tuesday morning circling around the activations of forwards Anthony Mantha and Frans Nielsen from the injured reserve.
Nielsen had missed the Red Wings’ last five games due to an upper-body injury, while Mantha had missed the last 18 games due to a punctured lung on Dec. 21.
Mantha has been a big loss to the Red Wings lineup having scored 24 points in 29 games prior to injury. Nielsen, meanwhile, has scored seven points in 46 games this season.
Coinciding the activations, the Red Wings placed D Jonathan Ericsson on waivers and assigned F Taro Hirose and F Givani Smith to the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
