The injury bug strikes again. This time its come back for Danny DeKeyser, with head coach Jeff Blashill indicating he’ll be out multiple weeks with a hand injury after Tuesday night’s loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
DeKeyser missed the time at the beginning of the season with injury and now he faces this set back. The defensive corps all season has been battling injury.
With this being a long-term injury, that opens up a oppertunity for a prospect in Grand Rapids to step in for a while. The most likely candidate being Filip Hronek, who has done nothing but light up the AHL since being sent down to refine his game. He is currently on a 6 game point streak and in total has 14 points in 16 games. I would expect the announcement of recalling the Czech defensemen to come soon. Grand Rapids plays at home Wednesday night and then the Wings are in Toronto the following night. So they may wait to let him get one more game in.
As for DeKeyser, this is a unfournate injury to be dealing with as he looks to get back on track. He has struggled in his time back and is starting to see a diminished role compared to previous seasons.
