Detroit Red Wings forwards @Filip Zadina and @Dylan Larkin combined forces on the opening goal of Monday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks.
Zadina carried the puck through the neutral zone after picking up an outlet pass from @Gustav Lindstrom. The 22-year-old winger spotted Larkin streaking down the left side and fired a pass that the captain collected without breaking stride.
After speeding past Ducks defenseman @Kevin Shattenkirk, Larkin made a move on goaltender @John Gibson before throwing a backhand shot into the top-right corner of the net.
Zadina and Lindstrom picked up the helpers on Larkin’s team-leading 23rd goal of the season, which gave the Red Wings a 1–0 lead with just 37.9 seconds remaining in the first period.
With the primary assist on the goal, Zadina now has 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in 44 games this season. The Red Wings originally selected him with the sixth-overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft.
Ducks forward @Rickard Rakell tied the score at one at the 2:29 mark of the second period. It remains a 1-1 game with approximately seven minutes remaining in the middle frame.
