Detroit Red Wings captain @Dylan Larkin put his team on top early in Saturday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens.
With Montreal defenseman @Ben Chiarot serving a tripping penalty, Larkin won the faceoff and received the puck back from @Moritz Seider near the top of the left circle.
Larkin walked in towards Canadiens goaltender @Jake Allen, faked a shot, and fired a heavy wrister that deflected off the crossbar before slamming into the back of the net.
Seider picked up the only assist on the goal, Larkin’s second of the season. Here’s the video, as posted to Twitter by Bally Sports Detroit:
Detroit entered Saturday’s game against Montreal looking to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to the Calgary Flames on Oct. 21.
Chiarot and @Mike Hoffman subsequently responded in the first period for the Canadiens to go ahead 2-1. After a goal by @Christian Dvorak, Montreal currently leads by a 3-1 score early in the second period.
The Red Wings currently possess a 2-1-1 record. At 0-5-0, Montreal is still searching for its first win.
