Stars vs Red Wings | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Red Wings fell into an early 3-0 hole in the first period on Tuesday night and couldn’t dig their way out of it, eventually settling for a 5-2 road loss to the Stars. Jonathan Bernier was pulled from the game after allowing four goals on 12 shots in favor of Thomas Greiss, who stopped all 11 of the shots that he faced. Bernier has struggled since returning from injury with a 1-3 record, a 4.46 goals-against average and an .861 save percentage. Greiss, meanwhile, is having his best month of the season in April with a 3-1-3 record to go along with a 1.92 GAA and a .935 save percentage.
In 24 home games this season, the Red Wings are 10-10-4 per the OddsShark NHL Database. Detroit is just 6-15-3 in its 24 games played on the road.
Dallas is caught in the middle of a tight race for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Central Division as the Stars, Nashville Predators, and Chicago Blackhawks all enter Thursday’s action within three points of one another. The Stars have been forced to overcome a series of serious injuries including Tyler Seguin, Alexander Radulov, and Ben Bishop. Dallas has picked up momentum in recent weeks with a 6-0-2 stretch over its last eight games.
Thursday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at sports betting sites. The UNDER is 6-2 in Detroit’s last eight home games.
The Stars are playing some great hockey of late, but the Red Wings were able to push them to a shootout when these two teams met on Monday night. With Greiss likely back in net for this Thursday’s and Saturday’s contests against the Stars, it will be interesting to see if Detroit can snap Dallas’ point streak with an upset win at home.
