Despite capturing a 2-1 overtime victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Monday, the Detroit Red Wings lost one of its defensemen to injury, @Nick Leddy, who’ll be sidelined through the All-Star break.
Following Tuesday’s practice, coach Jeff Blashill revealed Leddy remains unavailable due to the upper-body injury he suffered Monday night and confirmed the veteran blueliner isn’t expected to participate in Wednesday’s contest against the Los Angeles Kings.
Leddy, 30, left Monday’s game early after receiving a hit from Ducks rookie @Trevor Zegras and didn’t return.
With the league’s All-Star break beginning Thursday, Leddy’s next chance to return to action will come on Feb. 9 when Detroit travels to Philadelphia to take on the Flyers. But as of now, it’s unclear if the left-hander will be cleared to play by then.
On a positive note, defenseman Danny DeKeyser, who was away from the team Monday as he and his wife welcomed a new child into their family, returned to practice Tuesday and will likely slide in next to teammate Gustav Lindstrom for Wednesday’s tilt.
In his inaugural campaign with the Red Wings, Leddy has averaged 21:17 minutes of ice-time per game, posting one goal, 12 points, 42 shots on goal, 39 blocks, 22 hits and 16 takeaways through 44 games.
Detroit will look to head into the break on a two-game winning streak while hosting Los Angeles on Wednesday, beginning at 7:30 pm ET.
