Predators vs Red Wings | OddsShark Matchup Report
Thomas Greiss had another strong game for the Red Wings on Tuesday night stopping 29 of the 31 shots that he faced during regulation and overtime. But in the end, the Red Wings fell short 3-2 in the shootout. Detroit has improved considerably in the defensive end this season ranking 23rd in the NHL in goals against at 3.10 per game compared to dead last in the league at 3.73 per game last season. Offensively, the Red Wings still rank 31st in the NHL in scoring with 2.2 goals per game; they’ll need to find a way to address their offense this offseason.
While they lost outright, the Red Wings did improve to 16-5 against the spread at home on Tuesday. Seven of Detroit’s 12 losses at home this season have been in one-goal games, giving the Red Wings wins on the +1.5 puckline.
Nashville scored a power play goal with just under four minutes to go on Tuesday to force overtime and went on to win the shootout in two rounds by scoring on both of its attempts and making saves on both of Detroit’s attempts. The Predators improved to 4-0 in shootouts this season with the win and to 8-1 over their last nine games with the victory. They are 5-0 in their last five games as a betting favorite.
Thursday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at sports betting sites. The UNDER is 4-0-2 in Nashville’s last six games.
The most recent game between the Red Wings and Predators was far more competitive than the previous two meetings these teams had in Nashville. Thomas Greiss and Juuse Saros are both in top form at the moment and should be back in goal for another showdown in this one.
