The AHL announced on Tuesday that Grand Rapids Griffins forward Givani Smith will be suspended for one game for a clipping incident during Oct. 19’s game against the Texas Stars.
Smith will miss Wednesday’s home game against the Milwaukee Admirals.
Smith goes low on Conner Bleackley, takes out his legs and it appears Bleackley nearly lands on his head. Smith did not receive a penalty on the play.
Smith was suspended last season for an illegal check to the head. That suspension also was one game, but it was during the playoffs.
The 21-year-old has two goals and two assists in four games this season.
