The end of an era appears to be on the horizon as the Detroit Red Wings will not be offering Jimmy Howard a contract ahead of free agency.
GM Steve Yzerman said that the Red Wings will look to free agency for a goaltender.

Howard, 36, has been a member of the Red Wings since he was drafted in the second round by the organization in the 2003 draft. Since then, Howard has played 14 years with the Red Wings appearing in 543 games. He’s posted a 246-195-70 record and a .912 save percentage. Howard has appeared in 48 playoff games posting a 21-26 playoff record and a .918 save percentage.
Over the last two years, Howard has played in 82 games posting a 24-45-7 record and a .900 save percentage.
