Anthony Mantha is off to a fantastic start to the season. The 25-year-old scored a goal and two assists in Detroit’s 5-3 road win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday night and followed that up by scoring all four goals in the Red Wings’ 4-2 win at home over the Dallas Stars. Mantha’s goal totals have increased in each of his first four seasons in the league, and the right winger appears to be well on his way to another jump forward in offensive production against this season.
The Red Wings were betting underdogs in both of their wins over the weekend. Detroit is 9-2 in its last 11 games as an underdog per the OddsShark NHL Database.
While the Red Wings have jumped out to their 2-0 start due in large part to the production of Anthony Mantha, the Ducks can thank goaltender John Gibson for theirs. Gibson stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced in a 2-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes and 35 of the 36 shots he faces in a 3-1 win over the San Jose Sharks. Anaheim has won each of its last five games overall and is 8-4 in its last 12 games against the Red Wings.
Tuesday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at sports betting sites. The total has gone OVER in each of Anaheim’s last five road games.
Anaheim and Detroit are both projected to finish near the bottom of their respective divisions, but one of these teams is about to improve to 3-0 on the young season. Something has to give when Mantha and Gibson collide, and this battle could be the one that determines the winner on Tuesday night.
