  • The GREAT Walter White

wow, McDavid SUCKS at the Worlds….doesn’t he know this is the Oilers annual playoffs?!

ZERO goals in 8 games….playing WITH some of the NHL’s best, AGAINST mostly kids who have never played in the NHL before…(I’m not impressed with his secondary PP assists…).

If you had not heard all the hype about McDavid, and you were told there is a GENERATIONAL player at the tournament, you would have no idea…

I doubt Toronto or Winnipeg would trade their first round picks this year for McDavid…

    • madjam

As an Oiler fan it has been some what disappointing he has not scored more . But last year and this year looks like there could be 4-5 generational players coming up just in last two years . Bodes well for all hockey fans if that be the case . McDavid , Eichel , Laine , Puljujarvi , and perhaps Matthews might fit that mold depending on how they perform next season in the NHL and smaller ice surface . They’ll all be fun to watch .

        • madjam

Not at all , but expanding it recognizing there is more than one . Even with Crosby one could argue successfully for Malkin and Ovechkin being in that mold as well would you not agree ? Even Ovechkin not lighting it up in international tourneys , yet hard to argue he was not a generational type player .

          • FlamesFanOtherCity

You can’t something generational if it happens once or twice a year. That is more like the best of the year.
Down the road, if McJezub display the goal scoring ability of a Jagr, Ovi, etc., then maybe you can talk about him as an elite player. Half a season does not generational make.

BTW, this is a cross-forum blog, so nobody is really trolling.

          • madjam

Well you can definitely have more than a generational talent(s) in a short period of time less than a decade . It just depends on how often they come along . Case in point : Ovie and Crosby , Lemieux , Jagr and Gretzky certainly fit that criteria . As you can see generational talents are usually defined relative to the time they play in league well above the competition but often there can be more than one in a short span .

    • someguy

Yeah, ’cause 7 assists in 8 games helps nothing in Team Canada’s offence…./sarcasm.

Maybe do your homework before spouting off on the internet? Enjoy the taste of egg on your face. 🙂

    • Danglishish

Has Ovi scored in any of the 3 games Russia has played? He must be terrible then.

(Mostly) kidding aside, Canada’s coach said something yesterday that echos what MacLellan said about McDavid after the first 4 games of this regular season – he’s deferring to the veterans out of respect, and that’s why he’s not producing. Once he gets the green light to lead, he dominates.

If you want to look at his lack of scoring in the WHC and say McDavid is a bust, you probably don’t watch a lot of hockey. Sorry, not trying to be an ass, but it’s a huge leap to draw such a conclusion and one that somebody that’s watched him play this year would never, ever make.

    • JimmyV1965

Have you watched any of the games? I’m thinking not. Other than the game against the Finns – the whole team sucked – he’s been a beast. The point total does not reflect the play at all.

  • The Last Big Bear

Don’t worry guys, Walter White will have plenty of opportunity to eat his words.

Connor McDavid will be lighting up the World Championships every season, for years and years to come.

  • FireScorpion

McDavid the “great” with 7 measly helpers out of 40 team Canada goals? Matthew’s has what 8 points with 5 goals out of 24 USA goals on a much weaker team?
Interesting..Connor not doing much of anything no matter which way you slice it. Especially since he’s a once in a generation type of player..allegedly

    • You’re like the Nation’s version of crabs. Annoying at times, but not significant enough to really worry too much about.

I also challenge you to step up your trolling game if that’s going to be your goal around here.

        • JimmyV1965

I think the idea of a troll is that you don’t contribute to the conversation. You just come out and talk trash and spit on people. You say stupid ugly things just because…actually I have no idea why you do it. I know this is a difficult concept to grasp, so put on your thinking cap, but it is entirely possible for a Flames fan to be trolling on a Flames fan site.

      • Gary Empey

I am concerned that you only find “crabs annoying at times, but nothing to worry about.”

I would have that looked at by a qualified professional if I were you. You might as well have that extra digit checked out at the same time.

    • Randaman

I would just like to point out that McDavid has been getting moved around, played with many different wingers and has had no time with one set of line mates to gain chemistry.

In my opinion, Peters is an idiot.

You also have to consider the fact that maybe Conner is as hard to find line mates for as Crosby. That has always proven to be difficult.

    • RTB

I read posts like this and think to my self, thank god reading something stupid isn’t contagious, its exclusive to the poster.

You sir are a fountain of bs and every time I think you’ve peaked… you prove me wrong!

FS, you sir once again have made my day! I look forward to your next post!!

Gretzky, Messier, Kurri et al are going to get their a55es handed to them when they play Hawerchuk, Selanne, Hull-Hedberg-Nilsson at IGF Field in October.

The Meddling of MacTavish /Lowe are overshadowing the presence of Mclellan/Chiarelli to the point where this McDavid kid is totally ineffective…like “Seattle” Katz…
