END OF YEAR 2016/2017 SEASON REVIEW: THE BOTTOM SIX

It's time to continue our trek though the Red Wings lineup to end the 2016 calendar year. If you missed our review of the top six, you can check that out here. For now though, we're going to attempt to tackle what can only be labeled as the bottom six (plus some extras). As we covered before, figuring out who is assigned to which line is impossible with this team. The line juggling has become out of control but we're going to do our best here to straighten some things out for you. Regardless of where they may land in the lineup, we're going to get an unclose look at everyone on the roster.

WJC POSTGAME: USA vs LATVIA

Boxing day is the real Christmas for a lot of us, because it marks the return of the World Junior Championship. If you're Canadian, it's all encompassing. Family dinners are scheduled around it, you're talking weeks in advance about the advantage for your team on the smaller ice and you're all imaging how quickly it would all be over if the Canadian's had all their NHL talent on the team still. If you're American you're pretending like it's not that big a deal unless you finish ahead of Canada, then you were on board the entire time and knew they had it in them.

End of Year 2016-17 Season Review: The Top Six

It's Christmas time and a New Year is nearly upon us. While the NHL takes a quick break for the holidays at least fans can rejoice in what looks to be another stellar World Junior Championship. Maybe you just need a break from how underwhelming your team has been through the first 30ish games of the year or maybe you won't even see a single WJC game because you're a Blue Jackets fan and you've earned the right to revel in the early success. Regardless, if you've been tuning in to this site or following the Red Wings at all, you'd be saddened to see the grim offseason predictions for this club coming to fruition.

POSTGAME: COREAU GETS THE 'W'

Wings fans are desperate for a christmas miracle in Florida. Both southern division rivals have taken the gears to the Wings so far this season. The Panthers have been on a bit of a dip since firing Gallant, so no need to be all Scrouge about this one. Maybe, just maybe, there's a little hope in this one.

POSTGAME: BOB AIN'T HAVIN' IT

The Wings found themselves getting some skaters back in the lineup for this friday evening home matchup. Marchenko made his return to the point but more importantly Andreas Athanasiou was set to make his return. It seemed important to start this 5-game homestand on a positive note. A lot of this home stretch faces off against western conference teams, which detroit fares surprisingly well against, but Columbus had been hot fire this year and Detroit has struggled vs the east. Tonight sadly, was not the Wings night.
