Red Wings fans! It’s a beautiful Sunday and my honey-do-list is extensive, so I’m going to keep this one short and simple. 

The Red Wings have lost four in a row. It’s hilarious, because after their six-game winning streak, I heard someone on Detroit Sports Radio say “this team is like the Tigers, even if they win six in a row today, they’ll lose six in a row tomorrow.” well how right was he?

On Wednesday, while blowing a third period lead in Philadelphia, the Chicago Cubs broke the longest Championship drought in professional sports. Cubs fans had to wait 108 years, well I guess no one really waited that long, but it was an extended, extended drought nonetheless. If the Cubbies can break a 108-year drought, the Red Wings are capable of snapping this three-game losing streak.

The Red Wings season has been is symmetrical so far. They started the year off with two ugly performances, then won six in a row and followed that up with two more ugly performances. Perfectly balanced. The good news? That would put them on-pace to start another six-game winning streak tonight. How’s that for positive thinking?

The Red Wings’ streak was going to come to an end eventually, especially the way they were winning. Detroit continues to rely too heavily on their goaltending. That can work, especially the way Petr Mrazek and Jimmy Howard have been playing, but it’s not necessarily a formula for long-term success.
