There’s a different feeling about these Red Wings right now. A week ago we were dismantled by the Blackhawks twice, but now we’ve won two in a row in come-from-behind fashion. Thankfully the Florida Panthers were able to get past our new rival in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, it was in a shootout so they still got a point, but we got two. so…

The Red Wings are coming off of a huge win against the Jets on Thursday, scoring three unanswered goals to steal it from Winnipeg. It was a great character win for a Red Wings team that entered Thursday on a three-game losing streak. While Thursday’s win was huge, the Red Wings didn’t get any help last night. The Penguins beat the Blue Jackets and the Flyers soared past the Lightning. The end result? The Red Wings come in clinging to the second Wild Card spot in the East with a tough matchup ahead of them this afternoon. It got off to a nice start with a 3-2 OT win over the Stars, but was followed up with an embarrassing loss on home ice and then a better performance but yet another three-goal loss in Chicago on Sunday. So, the Red Wings got two out of a possible six points, but that’s behind us, let’s focus on the week ahead.

The Red Wings have had three days to marinate and work on things before taking on the Blackhawks again tonight. Detroit was blown out, 5-2, by Chicago on Wednesday and just flat out looked inferior. There is no denying that the Blackhawks are a Stanley Cup favourite, but the Red Wings will need to do a better job corralling the Blackhawks superstars this time around.
